The St. Thomas Caring Cupboard desperately needs non-food as well as food items. Donations can be given any Sunday. Drop them off in the barrel at the back of the sanctuary. These items are taken to the Caring Cupboard at the end of each month.

Grace and Peace to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour,
Today is the first of three consecutive weeks of me writing to you without a specific congregational visit on which to report. The way the calendar fell, and some other scheduling issues leave me traveling to Canada the final two weekends of February instead of my alternating week pattern. So, no pretty pictures of church buildings for the next few weeks, but hopefully some valuable news.
First, a few reminders:
- The board meeting about staff structure is scheduled for February 13, your reps are seeking written feedback by February 10.
- Our prayer partner congregation this week is Sugarbush Christian Church
- The New Church start in Guelph - and planter, Jen Garbin, I am also boldly asking you to include Guelph Christian Church and their pastor, John Bersche, because the two churches are faithfully intertwined.
- The General Church Prayer Partner this week is the South Idaho Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Now an update on the Sugarbush CC preview service this past weekend. IT SNOWED! LOTS OF SNOW! Honestly, bad weather is generally considered HORRIBLE news for a preview service. Even so, TWENTY-TWO people came out in the Blizzard to see what this new thing was all about. Most of the people present were already invested in the new church, but they wisely went on as planned. In essence, the folks at Sugarbush got a recorded dress rehearsal which they will be able to review, critique, and refine before their next preview. While I am saddened we did not get a chance to have fifty or sixty people come and see the great new project, I rejoice in the fact that so many DID brave the storm on a night where it would have been easy to have the Project Empowerment Committee sitting around staring glumly at one another. I have been blessed in my Regional Ministries to be a part of about a half dozen starts, and this first exposure for Sugarbush is a VERY GOOD thing! Jen and the folks on the PEC can be proud of the fact that they are showing us signs of hope in becoming ALL GOD HAS CREATED US TO BE!
For those of you who are FACEBOOK users, there is a new Facebook page for the All Canada Convention this August 9-12 in Edmonton. Look it up if 'it" has not already found you. There are great plans shaping up for Encounter, the Weekend, and there have been rumours flying about a possible clergy/spouse event to boot.
It is a great time to be a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Canada! I thank God that I have been called to be a part of this new and exciting movement of the spirit as we learn and grow together. Remember, dream God sized dreams, and be willing to let the Spirit move them into God sized actions. Or as a dear friend and colleague once said to me "When your dream is so bold you find yourself saying "the only way this is going to happen is with God's blessing and help --- GOOD!"
Blessings to you all,
Rick
